I caught a kid many years ago stealing the chrome caps off my then new XR8 ute while I sat in it watching my sons soccer game .....well didn't he get a BIG shock when I jumped out and detained him while his mate took off running ....he started to cry and I asked him where were his parents .....
Took him over to them and they were horrified "little Johnny" had stolen them so consequently his dad gave him a good talking to....as he was still crying and his mate also got a good dressing down ..... I think they learnt a good lesson that day....Check and make sure the car is not occupied before you fleece the chrome caps ... |

Used to happen to me all the time - especially after the Mrs had been to the shopping centre. ****ed me right off! I solved the problem by fitting chrome hex head style caps - 10mm from memory, they looked really good, stopped the theft problem, but it was a PITA to have to grab a spanner out of the glovebox every time I checked the pressures.
Cheers! PS: Not sure if it was always kids that nabbed them for their pushbikes either!

I have locking caps on mine now. However, when I took them off one day, I lost the lock to one of them. Only ONE. Well, take the car to work one night, and that ONE had been taken. So they would have tried all four, but as long as they got one they were happy

I've had more than a few sets taken off both AUs over the years.
In the end, I've just put on the black plastic items. None taken since! GK

I've got to get out more. As far as I can remember I've never lost one.
Though I once had a door mirror stolen.

Dont clamp these valve caps on, it will frustrate the would be theif and they may key or damage your car far worse than taking your caps. Make it easy so they just grab the caps and bolt off thinking they fleeced the casino. Its the lesser of the evils, give them something so they run away than frustrate them to inflict serious damage to your car.
