I knew the bloke in this crash, he was a top bloke and if I believe correctly he had not long or was going to sign up on AFF, so sad to see this happen. R.I.P mate.

A another tragedy too for Marsden Park RFB. This is the second fatal accident involving a RFS member they have attended in the past 2 years. The other involved their Senior Deputy Captain Don Deppeler who suffered a heart attack while at the wheel of their appliance in February 2011.
And yet another tragedy for the Australian volunteer firey community after the death of our WA colleague Mark Noormets earlier this month. R.I.P. |

unfortunate accident, that much is certain. whats not stated in the article is who is at fault so not sure why you would make such a comment. its possible the learner has done nothing wrong other than being at the wrong place at the wrong time. |

I think you forgot to add that important fact regardless of who was at fault (tho I believe it was the L plater) This ******* idiot should not have been driving unsupervised

What kind of car was the L-plater driving? It made a mess of the Falcon, there looks to be nothing left.
RIP. You just never know when your number is up. |

BUT! if the only thing wrong the L plater did was be driving unsupervised and the crash was caused by something else would you still want the book thrown at them? there have been instances where supervised learner drivers have caused deaths in the past. its very likely the other party involved feels like crap and is going to be paying for this for a long time to come. like i said previously, unfortunate accident. its easy to judge from the outside. |

Yeti, can you pass on condolences to the family, not sure if I know him, but I spent a number of years at Shane's Park RFS and done plenty of call outs with the Marsden Park crew....
It is not really important how it happened, but any loss of life early is a tragedy and the effect on the family can be disastrous.....a sad time for all.....

This "learner" was 24 y.o. Old enough to know better. Yes he should be hung out to dry. I only met damien twice but found him a nice enough guy to a newbie. It is a sad thing indeed.

As far as I know from when I went over there, it was the L plater who F'd up.
Even if it wasn't the L platers fault, I would of still thrown the book in his face, driving un -supervised is another crime in it's own, let alone killing someone on top of that. |

Firstly, condolences for the young man who died. A senseless and utter waste of life brought on by absolute stupidity and a total disregard for other road users.
Secondly, I’d say that there’s most likely a bit more to the knucklehead who appears to have caused this. When some idiot who is capable of doing this is on a learners permit at 24 years of age, there’s probably a very good reason for it. RIP.

regardless of who was at fault this is a tragedy.....a young life, full of promise, cut short
the state and indeed the country deprived of another volunteer and, apparently, a fine young lad youngsters simply don't seem to realise that a stupid split second decision can and often does have tragic consequences......the L plater will have to live with this for the rest of his life rest easy young feller, I didn't know you but I applaud your giving spirit......you obviously touched a lot of lives.....a life too short but one well lived.... .................................................. ..................R.I.P........................... .........................................
