Hey guys I dunno if some of you know I suffer from a few medical conditions well I won't bore you with details I have tried numerous medical and alternative treatments without much success or the medicine has worse side effects than the disease itself.
Well now in the states there are a few new treatments that people are having great success with and are getting into remission. Now I have seen various sporting players and other notable people when they get sick put on events and raise money to go overseas for treatment. Well I don't move in many social circles or am part of any club. What I was wondering how hard is it to put on a cruise or show similar to something like the event for vern troyer I think it was te guy who was injured in a football accident. Even if I just raise some awarness for the conditions I have I will be really happy so I just wanna know how much work it is to put on an event such as this. I'm very passionate about cars and fishing and honestly they are the only 2 things I know. Sme people suggested I put on a charity golf game or the like I have no idea about golf so a car event would be really good Any tips ideas appreciated |

Its a bit hard when you dont say what you hope to achieve other then more awareness?
Do you wish to raise money for a charity or research group? Usually with certain medical conditions there is a charity group associated with it... heart diesease, spinal awareness, MS etc... they all have an organisation which brings awareness to the public and raises money etc. If there is one set up for your medical condition, then its best to appraoch them and give them the idea about having a car cruise and car show afterwards. Every year here in Townsville for Spinal Awareness week, the Spinal Association holds a car cruise and car show event. All the car clubs are advised and invited to attend. Last yr we had 120 odd cars in the cruise and show afterwards.

See I realised after what I wrote the post I wasn't to clear
What I'd like to achieve is awarness for and raise some funds so I can go to america and try the new treatment so I can bring back the results to Australia so our government approves it or atleast does some research into it It's a new treatment that is only currently available in America and some parys of europe and they are getting amazing results with alot of people getting into remmision and it is a fairly natural approach There is a charity/organisation that is associated with this condition but they only do events in our circles and generally when it comes to promotion and awarness they all sit on they're hands and do nothing than whinge they get no donations or no one knows what IBd is I keep saying it's because you guys don't do enough in the general community and basically there is alot of talking and not much doing So I decided to do something about it just so that we can at least get some cash together for new research or try and get this treatment in Australia |

Thats the point I did and hit a brick wall with everyone there I'm a member but the people running it are hopeless thats why I want to do an event for awarness and fund raising so that they can see how simple it is to promote the cause instead of sitting around and whinging
I'm jst wondering how hard it is to put on a show or cruise whats involved i.e paperwork permits venue etc... Just like to hear from some experienced people that have done this |

Is the organisation national? Has different branches? Offices ? etc.. sometimes trying someone else within the organisation can work, specially if its show that one particular member or members seem disinterested in helping.
Car Club cruises just need the support of the local car clubs, people will show up, but you need one point of contact and organiser. Permits for a car show will depend on the local council and where you want to have your car show etc.... (club cruises mostly orginate at local shopping center carparks on weekends, so usually dont need to worry about permits there). Local Lions clubs usually have a mobile food van available and im sure they would be glad to show up... sometimes other charities can help you out as well. Get a Mr Whippy van and your set! Get local media involved with some free advertising. Pretty sad to hear that they dont want to help or organise anything!
