I was just wondering if you ring 13FORD, with your VIN number, do they still give you a report on the vehicles build spec/dealer info?
The only reason I ask is with all the cut backs etc. at Ford, they may not be doing this anymore either? Thanks all. |

I believe that if you have your VIN number you can look it up yourself @ http://www.etis.ford.com/

I recently went to my local Ford dealer (where the car was originally bought new), gave them the VIN and they could hardly tell me a thing about the car...

That site is no good to me, it must be for later model cars as it says VIN has 17 digits.
The old girls never had 17 digits. Guess I am going to have to get off my **** and make a phone call tomorrow. |

NOt to sure. Maybe they did not record older models. I put my 04 GT in and it came up with all the details.

It's a bit slack if you can't get the info.
I was curious about my Little Red German Taxi ('87 230E) and got this back.

I just rang Ford, and they still can give info on vehicles. They can give the info over the phone, or if you want it in writing, you need to send them a copy of your drivers license with current address, and proof of ownership. I am onto it now.

I just tried my 2009 FG XR6T, and it was all there including options list. It said that it's got "high series brakes" and "FPV suspension". Is this the norm for XR6T's or do I have something special? The brakes look normal to me (but do have a nice work really well).

My cars build specs and place of sale arrived in the mail today! I reckon it is great that Ford still offer this service and it costs nothing! Thank you Ford Australia.

Yeah that FordEtis worked with my BA XR6 Turbo.
Also, a couple of years back I emailed about my EL (just the VIN number) and they emailed back with full option list etc...

It works for American Fords too. I tried my Mustang, and sure enough - there it was!

Yeah I phoned or emailed FPV a number of years ago now for the Ba phoon, got a nice FPV letter-head A4 page with all of my vehicles original options/colour etc. Its now with my FPV leather bound folder with its COA and other info. I enjoy things like this! Pity no pics of it going down the production line, now that would be somthing!

The FG Turbo has an up-speced brake package compared to the normal garden variety car. The option code used for base cars has the description "Low series brakes". The suspension code was one carried across from an earlier model FPV, which had the same basic suspension spec. I wouldn't read too much into the descriptions, as there is no real science to it. I used to do this option coding and there are a lot of codes recycled, due to being a limited library to chose from. |
