OK folks here's the dilemma. We have 2 cars, one a FG G6E-T and an AU III XR-8 Ute.
The ute is a manual and the wife has "duck's disease" ( i.e. short!) so when she is comfortable behind the wheel of the ute she has trouble working the clutch because of the distance. Do I? 1. Trade ute for an auto (rather not, like the thing and can't really afford it just now) 2. Fit some of those ricer type pedal covers (might work, only need about an inch closer) 3. Get taller wife. (this would work out expensive,trust me  )So, option 2 looks to be best fix in short term. Has anyone had any experience with these? Are they dangerous/illegal? Will they extend the pedal enough (1 inch)? |

Buy her a pair of these..
 But seriously, I'd go pedal covers. I was going to say install an adjustable pedal box but I don't think AUs had that option. Another option would be to pick up some black rubber (from places like Clark Rubber or similar) and cut/shape/tape them to the existing pedals. |

Out of the box, but what about moving the seat mounting bolts forward?
My bride is a short **** too. When I had the HQ race car we used to put a block of wood on the pedals, or a large pillow behind her back.

Buy her a Festiva so she stays out of your cars.
Or look at fitting the adjustible pedals from a Territory or later model upspec Falcon. Have you tried her with the steering wheel all the way in, and sitting further forward?

If you really like the ute that much a custom adjustable pedal box sounds like a winner.

i have a clutch pedal extension in the coupe
it makes a huge difference i believe the ricer pedals are illegal because most of what i have seen don't have much rubber for grip when wet they are predominately for show only, but that is just my understanding however i would be a little apprehensive panic braking with a bright coloured brake pedal (with a few bits of rubber) in wet shoes, particularly if the said shoes are not rubber soled shoes

I had chrome rice pedals on my Astina and the slightest hint of damp and working the the brake pedal was a lottery.
