Default quarter mile times into HP/RWKW conversion

is it possible to get your HORSE POWER or RWKW figure from your quarter mile times, or your 0-100 km/h times.

I heard you can do a rough caclulation, but there are so many factors that could put it way out.

any thoughts?

cheers
rob

I've yet to find one I consider accruate.
Your honestly better off just telling us all the specs you know (car, weight, trans, diff, rwkw etc) and you will probably find the "seat of the pants" type estimates on this site from people who have raced a few times will give you as close an estimate as those calculators.. and be a lot more fun to work out.

so basically you can roughly get a close estimate from quarter mile times to what your rwkw might be then?

Most certainly.. in combination with all the other factors.
The only true way to know is to race it, all the rest is specualtion.

MPH is a pretty reliable indicator of engine power, relative to car weight of course.

I wouldn't bother trying to convert to a rwkw figure though...too many variables.

I punched in the hp & lbs figs & came up with 17.59 1/4 & 84mph for a AU Ghia at 3630lbs(1650 KGS) & 168hp I think the car would do better than that.
Either high 15's to low 16's would be more on the sums

Buickman, your car makes 168kw (approx 225hp), not 168hp.

Putting in your vehicle weight 3630lbs and engine power 225hp gives a 15.96 @ 92.6mph...much more like it ;)

another variable, its the VCT motor so, even with the weight, the second half of the track it will stretch its legs. I know buickman has a decent exhaust too so it wont get strangled at high rpm. I'll bet it runs a 15.7.. but the 60 foot will be a 2.3 or worse.

sorry but i will disagree with ya
way too many variables.
same engine makes x runs x on the 1/4
put a high stall in it, will show lower rw kw yet 1/4 faster.
my commodore is a good example makes 650 rw hp, should be good for mid 9's but won't do it.
Personally i reckon it will have a low 11 high 10 in it. that's about it.

Is that calc in RWHP? If so, it is off the planet. It says for my 12.4, that there is 480hp? I would only just have 400 at the flywheel if that.
