Default Auto > manual conversion labour. Good price?

I have been contacted by somebody who is willing to convert my car from auto to manual for $500 labour (I will be supplying all parts).
Is this a good price? I don't know if this person is a qualified mechanic or anything like that.

Cheers.

That sounds about right. Is that including fitting the pedal box etc?

That's priced out at to much
At 77 ph on bigger jobs like this
Your looking at 1.5 to remove and refit the dash
.5 remove and refit pedal box
1 remove auto ect ..
1.5 to fit manual and adjust

People just want to charge you big money as it is time consuming
as they could do a easy service and charge out there time at 100 ph

Don't have to remove the auto pedal box just use the mal wood pin kit which adds the clutch pedal to the auto pedal box so no removal of dash required

Thanks for the insight, I will get as many mechanics to quote the conversion as I can

I am indeed planning on using the mal wood kit to modify the auto pedal box, I was considering using a manual pedal box because there is one in the kit but it isn't worth pulling the dash out to fit it.
I may still do the conversion myself but I don't have the facilities for it and I'm not keen to get a mechanic to fix whatever botch job I inevitably create.

The only problem with going the Mal wood kit is after some time you will crack the pedal box and it will need to be pulled out and strengthened
It is a common thing even on manual boxs

I have heard about the problem with the manual pedal box cracking but I'm going to try to reinforce the auto pedal box when installing the mal wood kit.
The conversion may have to wait a couple of months any way, got a lot of bills at the moment :(

The only way to reinforce it is to Weild a plate or large washer right where the pin goes

While the dash is out get a plate wielded on the inside of the fire wall where the clutch cable goes that will help a heap
