Hey yall ,
Tomorrow i will attempt to install my poineer deck into the dash , just wondering how people manage to get the decks secure in the dash. By the looks of it i will need to drill afew holes and mount the bracket (cradle) but im not sure how i will manage to get a drill in there to make the hole in the metal part of the dash as the opening were the old unit was is small...... Any info would be great.. James |

you should be able to get an angle drill or something like that from a tool hire place if you need to get a drill in there. the chuck is at 90' to the handle so you can get a hole in there quite easily. that'd be my suggestion :

To make life easy for ya, why don't you just pull the centre dash out and figure a way to mount as you will have to mod it to get a nice fit.

If you have the pocket, fit that first, then fit the cradle thing the head unit sits in and just push out as many of the tabs as you can. It will hold secure.

I just used the tabs the way JC said - works a treat and no movement from the unit at all.

well after hours and hours and hours i have installed the deck , by making my own adapter and strewing the cradle to the metal inside the dash. I am very happy with the result. It sits perfectly with the tray underneath and can be totaly removed within minutes and the factory setup re-installed if needed.
Thankd for the advice guys... james |

With mine I went over the top.
I got angle aluminum and used it to create top and bottom slides for the cradle to sit in. Used self tapping screws to hold that to the metal in the car, then drilled a hole in each side of the slides so I could bend tabs down so the cradle wouldn’t move. How deep did you mount yours? I mounted it deep as the surround would allow and had to make a surround for it, so there would be no gap between the bottom tray and the head unit. What unit is that? Cheers |

I need to paint the pocket as well.
But I have no time at all. I think the grey contrasts nicely though.

OK ... there is a part from Stinger that can hook your steering wheel controls up to Pioneer headunits ... I had yet to get this myself .... but I am missing my steering wheel controls .... i gotta get it done though.

You can wire your auto antenna switching wire through a switch (fitted under your dash or anywhere you like) and lower it manually when you have the CD playing.
