Hey guys,
Done a search but couldn't find anything relevant. I have a series 3 xr8 ute and noticed that the heater will only work while driving through the day, but as I've doing a bit of night shift lately and as other Victorians will know its been consistently below 0 degrees at night, the heater won't at all which makes the 2 hour drive home at 4am a little uncomfortable. Now, before, the temp gauge sat right on the O, but after changing the thermostat, it now sits on the N. Doesn't seem to be anything wrong with heater tap or hoses under the bonnet. Just after any ideas because as this only really occurs at night, is quite difficult to diagnose. Cheers for any help |

on my xr8 the heater tap was actually stiff and I had to actuate the rod on the heater tap from the vacuum line to open the tap up.
pull the line off the tap and check the rod drops

Yeh. it was only working like 10% of the time and usually only when I had it set to heat and had been sitting for some time.
IIRC no vac causes it to open and set for heat.

tap might be seized or broken(or blocked) , loss of vacuum to controls ?? with the motor at operating temp feel the hoses going in and out of the firewall to the heater, a cool hose i think would indicate a problem.
