TOTALLY UNDERSTAND . for what it's worth when i type i'm looking at the keyboard , not the screen . 1/2 the spelling mistakes are keyed errors the other 1/2 are my bad spelling . because i rush i often leave out fullstops , commas , capitals and paragraphs .
sorry about that . i know they are hard to read . and of course grammar is certainly my weak area on the keyboard and in writing . could be better , but it would take me 20 minutes to type this and correct all the mistakes rather than 2 minutes . it's just the way it is .

WELL now that we're going there . i am really surprised that someone hasnt said it's my own fault for sending her to a public school , and that i'm a bad dad that this happened . and of course that shes costing the country too much money , and probably will expect too much when she leaves school .

May be I'm old skool but we always had position in school / position in class on our reports when I was in high school

As for Public V Private school, it takes more than school fees to make a good school,

I dunno. My daughter is only 7 but is straight a (except art andphys ed, which I do not care about) tbh when she complains to me that she did not get perfect, I just reply that it is ok and we do not have to be perfect all the time. Even if it is an error, your daughter should just be proud of the fact she is one of the best students at school. My daughter is the best in her class and her report even commented that her knowledge and intelligence further helps the other students learn new things etc. But if she came home and told me she did not get perfect, even if it were a marking error, I would just tell her not to worry. Unless it was the difference between a uni subject she wanted or not, or a scholarship etc.

The teacher who made the marking error may not be so lenient in the future when it comes to assessments..... if you bring the error to her attention.

I'd much prefer my report card to be dead accurate to what I earned. Good or bad.

Spudz27 congrats to your daughter, whe sounds awesome .
over the years i have seen many teachers who cant mark a spelling test . it's appalling really when your child comes home with a mark of say 16 out of 20 for thier homework . only to look and see the mark should've been 19 out of 20 . it happens often . it isn't a rare occasion . my children both pick these things up by teachers all the time , with project marking and weekly tests .
But when it's an assessment on a 1/2 yearly or full yearly report . i find it a little not right . TEACHERS are the professionals . marking things wrong . really should be challenged . i think if they do it often . they shouldn't be in that profession at all .
when some children who have a rather keen interests in their results find errors in the teachers often . those children tend to challange the teacher , and more often than not the students are right .
it's hard to ridicule though, because it's the teachers that get the children to their achievements in education in the 1st place .

by the way i spell the word thier using the rule . i before e except after c . has that rule changed because spell check corrects me and says i have to spell it as their !!!!!!!

I don't think the I before e rule ahold even be taught. It is "their", your phone is right.
There is a huge amount of words that break the rule
Neighbour, weight spring to mind.

WHEN I WENT TO SCHOOL . thats how i was taught to spell . not needed to write often or spell other than on the net , i go off what i can remember , i'm sure also our spelling of some words in this country have changed over 4 decades to American spelling also .

I think what happens if grammar is not part of your daily duties , your grammar will slip behind by default over time with the english language in one country . Een today i have spell check on my computer , i don't know if it is yankee pommie or aussie .

one upon a time i used to talk lyk dis and my frends used to hate it when i tlked lyk dis.

So I pulled my socks up and now I talk with (as best I can) proper spelling and grammar. It's a lost art these days, which is very sad. No one seems to know or appreciate proper English. If I have kids, English is going to be very important for them. They will know how to spell and they will know how to use apostrophes.

Being grade 9 it won't make any difference to her future. If she was in grade 12 and it was her finals then yes, I'd be asking for it to be fixed.

Its not your spelling that worries me. My grammar is **** but yours is just atrocious!
