In OZ, the 1.6 was always a Kent OHV pushrod motor.
In UK, the 1.6 was available as a SOHC Pinto. According to that source of all truths Wikipedia....... The Peter Llyod unit is just the GRP4 fabrications unit....
I have the same one in my rally car and it is a top quality item, built well for motorsport use If its just a road a car car & 1.6 kent then 2 things, you can get a alloy radiators from ebay to suit that are good from what I have seen, the second is that the radiators are for a pinto which means they will not fit into a 1600 body without cutting out the radiator support panel at the top & adding the notch into the bottom of the front rad support |

or Ford Escort Mk3/Mk4 1.3,1.4,1.6 CVH also why don't most people work the 1.6 engine? mine seems fine id much rather try and work it than put in the pinto even if it is better. What is the most popular cam and flow upgrades? |

Ford Escort Mk3/Mk4 1.3,1.4,1.6 CVH = Pommie later models.... People do work with the x/flow motors, I had a GT1600 Capri with an extremely highliy modified 1600, they are a great little motor People tend to move away from them these days only due to costs of finding and modifiying when a larger newer motor can be inserted for less cost & in many cases more torque & power |

then I would find a cheap alloy one off ebay that suits your x flow standard engine bay that way it will bolt straight in

you need to really take note & have a look at the brackets on the radiators as I sad before......All the radiators you found on ebay listed above are for pinto escorts not xflow, the mounting brackets are round the wrong way for a standard xflow engine bay have a look at his one & compare the location of the brackets http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Escort-Mk...item1e7e7e1eb5 a xflow radiator sits proud of the rad support where as a pinto one sits in - refer to pick below of a pinto one & compare to yours |

The angle brackets on that one are for a pinto so it will sit in the same as my photo above - good price thou.....
you need to look for the 1.6 xflow or twin cam (but the price would most likely double when you mention that lol) maybe check with them if the angle brackets can be reversed? or see how much it is to get tabs welded on so it sits as per your current one |

the reason they don't fit is the location of the radiator....they are different between a pinto & xflow
when you put a pinto into a xflow body you need to cut the radiator support at the top and also cut a recess section into the bottom - a pinto is a lot longer that a xflow (I have done this a few times......) found this old pic....shows how the radiator is 'recessed' into the radiator support panel...is yours the same? Have a look at your car taking note of where the radiator sits and where the brackets are and then compare tp the pic above - better still take a pic of yours so we can help out if yours is sitting where a pinto one sits someone may have already modified the body to suit???? take a pic and we will be able to work it out easily |
