Good morning,
I have a 97 1.6 manual laser that stalls when I first start it in the morning then fires up quickly the second time, idles fine after that. It surges very badly in first gear then is better from second onwards apart from a bit of a miss, sometimes aound 3000rpm but can vary. I replaced the fuel filter in it a month ago and it was a lot better but the issues have started again, please help? Wayne |

I have just gone over air hoses etc and found that the air intake from the air cleaner to the injection has a big split in it, will repair it later today and see how that goes

Late reply. My 1993 Telstar has the same problem, a mechanic who tried to fix it looked at the intake pipe as the prime suspect. Unfortunately not. I also had a VT Commodore with the same problem. Found it to be air pipe had slipped partially off the throttle body. Motor would start then stall after about 3 seconds. Air flow meter telling lies to the computer. Now I have been told to clean my injectors by a mechanic and check fuel flow for correct pressure being delivered by the fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator. I guess I will eventually get it sorted.

Graham,
It was the split that was causing the problem, taped it up (for now) and it runs like a dream, good luck with your issues, sometimes it can be a very simple thing. Wayne |
