Default Driving light mount/bar universal fit for any vehicle.

Has anybody used these before or something similar ?.
I am wondering how solid they would be with light's on them while driving, whether they would wobble ?.
Seem's like a cheap quick fix to add some driving light's to any vehicle and easy to take of ?.

If they are bolted to you bar reinforcement then they are fine.

Going on the AU?

You'll need some long bolts

just for future reference the aunger versions are obsolete and the current market replacement is the unibar

http://www.eagleproducts.com.au/pdf/...20Brochure.pdf

i used to sell the aunger version when the company was still around, can say that the units were pretty strong and i always had confidence in the product, but the wobbling etc would be more of a car problem so cant comment on that

ill be buying a set of unibars or maybe the aungers if theres more left soon enough

Thank's guy's , I wasn't thinking of them for the AU at the start, more so for a SZ Territory, but a set on the AU for holidaying/night driving would be good, as they could be easily removed for normal day/town driving.

Touble is the plate on those bars is flat... and most bumper bars are curved!

I bought on for my AU and the gaps are so large where the screws go that big spacers are needed.

I got one and was going to use it with driving lights.
But decided on Larger driving lights ... 240mm diameter lights
The Unibar was inadequte for this.

I ended up with a nudge bar instead to bolt the lights to.

I've got one on my Focus, it comes down to how you mount it if it wobbles. Mine is held in by two nutserts drilled into the front crash support bar with two long M8 high tensile Allen headed bolts.

I've got two Hella rallye 4000 compacts on them and they don't bounce around.

They don't work... Better off with a nudge bar.

Worked fine for me. used all mounting holes and some decent screws/nuts/and oversized washers on the inside, the rounded front bar pulls up fine to the straight plate on the light bar. Very litle to NO vibration was had 'on road' any extra holes are then covered when the bar is removed and number plate re attached. Heres a pic with 2 x Cibie "oscars" on top of light bar.

They do work, they just don't work when you just use self tappers.

http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/4...0610941076.jpg

They don't move.

i also say they work. had one on a mazda 323 astina and it was fine. i had smallish rectangle lights on it and it was fine, the lights would move a little bit but that could have been the car and bumpy crappy roads i was driving on.

i may even have the bracket floating in the shed if you are anywhere near central coast/newcastle nsw.

Police cars use those same bars so they must be good. The only problem is that most cars have a slight curve in the bumper bar and the driving light bar is dead strait and will not flex. You can compensate for this by using brass washers as spacers. That will secure tightly to your bar.

Had one on my EF, mounted properly they don't wobble at all. Mine was secured onto the bumper reinforce using spacers to compensate for the slight curve.
Be warned, they attract locusts ..............

I have thought about this as the best way to secure the support bar, using nutserts.
However the plastic bumper is deep and difficult to get to fix the nutserts with the bumper attached. Can I still insert nutserts without first removing the whole bumper? Has anyone had similar experience., and share how they went about attaching the nutserts without removing the bumper or has instructions for removing the front bumper.
Thank you

i mounted mine up a bit different to most

the bolts for the lightbar bolted through the bar reinforcement behind the number plate made my own holes in the lightbar and bar for this

and used nutserts on the number plate screws original holes all 4 of them

i can take it all off and return too normal with no holes to be seen

to take care of the curve in the bar i used stainless steel washers behind the lightbar also did the same for the number plate to space above the head of the bolts that hold the lightbar on so it did not bend the plate

with the nudgebar on you have to look close to see in there so you dont really see the plate spaced out

has been like this for over 12 months with no probs my hids mount too the nudgebar on a plate i made up so its quick and easy to remove wires plug in under the bonnet as i only use the lights when we travel to a friends place out in the middle of nowhere

fog lights stay on the car and have never noticed any wobble with them

I have used the proper Uni-Bar driving light bar in the past and they do fit well and hold the lights nicely with very little vibration.
These days I prefer something a tad bigger on my ute...

That looks awesome.

Out of curiosity how much is a 5 poster worth? Thinking about getting one for my ambulance.

A good quality second hand 5 poster will set you back anything from $500 to $2000. I picked mine up second hand for $1000 including freight from Port Augusta SA.

Dito...

Number plate mount on the AU is tricky but for any car a nudge bar is better (but expensive). I plan to spray mine flat black to kill all that annoying chrome.
