Default Power Windows

Thats it! I've had it with my power windows!

Whenever I go to put the drivers one up, it stops halfway, and I have to grab the window, rock it backwards into the correct position, then it winds up normally. It reads like the window is sitting too far forward in the cradle.

I pulled the door apart and checked all the guides, undid the two bolts on the window cradle, and moved the window back as far as the limited adjustment would allow.

I've tried silicone spray, graphite powder, EVERYTHING! Can the window guides become worn? Could the tinting be affecting the operation of the windows?
A mate has an EF Fairmont Ghia, and his windows are PERFECT, much faster and smoother than mine! Go figure.

What else can you suggest to fix them?

i think its actually the power window reg rail that effects it.
it gets worn and allows the window to pivot.

it also doesnt help that EL has thicker glass on it and they didnt allow for it in the window rubber.

best thing to do would be to get a another whole regulator assembly from a known working car.

I'll try replacing the window regulator rail. Can you buy them new? That'd probably be easier.

try adjusting the glass position in the rail. costs nothing, might fix it.

My 95 EF XR6 has similar sounding problem but its the passenger one not drivers.
Mechanics have fiddled with things and it goes great for a while (then rains) and back to the mechs LOL
I now wont put that window down more than halfway :hihi:

My passenger window was doing the same until the cable snapped (with a big bang at 100kmph), replaced the assembley and no more drama's. Before that it needed a very regular silicone spray.

that hapend to a mates NA fairlane going down Roe HWY,it sounded like a gun going off in the car,my mate has sold his NA now(to many probs with it)

Pully6, there are still new ones available. They are $302.50 Brand new.

Part Number is EFF23200B and you will need the rivets? Pt No V388797S100 for 3 @ 2.30 each or you could put Bolts and Nuts in?

~$300 is a little out of the price range though. No matter how much it annoys me.

Wreckers sell the regulators for about $75 each, or apparently, new aftermarket ones are $75 each in Adelaide, but I can't remember where from.

My passenger one broke, and the drivers ones starting to shudder and move in the frame, so its on its way :(

Default Motor works

Mine is doing the same thing!!!
I have undone the window from the bracket that it sits in and have tested the it and the motor works fine!!
I tried to pull the glass up and down with my hands and its almost impossable its so tight.

so what needs to be replaced?

I had no end of trouble with my EF windows,had the motors replaced in 3 out of 4 , still had sticking probs, finally got some silicon spray from supercheap. never looked back.
Windows work fine every time. I just wound the windows down and sprayed it in the two guides so it would run down the track, cycled the windows up and down a few times ,Bingo!

I fixed the problem by pulling the trim off, re-adjusting the glass, and giving the guides a good spray with silicone spray.

I've found that as the window travels up the guide, the front guide fouls and pulls the window forwards, thus jamming it. Fill the ИИИИer up with silicone spray, it stops it fouling the front guard.

The only trouble with silicone spray is it eats into the tint and leaves a shocking film on your windows. How can you avoid that?
