Contrary to popular belief, most people don't change their cars over every 3 years. Some people actually 'own' their cars. There will still be plenty of AUs on the road in 2016. That said, Ford will not be obligated to make parts for them.

Yes but plenty relative to what?
The average life expectancy for Falcon and Commodore is around 15 to 17 years which can
be seen when you drive around and take note of the oldest most common Falcons
seen on the road, today it's EF-EL but quickly becoming AU.


Something to note, there was a lot more of those older Falcons built than today's examples
so natural attrition is going to wear down the number on later versions much quicker than older examples.
By 2016, the newest AUIII will be 14-15 years old, so it's only natural that quite a lot will be off the road
and survivors in the hands of a few enthusiasts, My Father in law has a green Fairmont Ghia that
I'm hoping to acquire when he finally gives up driving (before 2016) so another will be saved..

Yeah, on reflection, you're right. Geez I can't believe that the AU is already 15 years old. Save that Ghia!

So it might strike at odds with you to learn when Holden closed their foundry operations in 09, they actually manufactured components dating as far back as VN and 308 for their 'All time build'.
