I'm pretty sure the alternator on my mothers AUII Falcon is gone, the battery indicator on the dash is on too. The battery reads 12.7v disconnected and fully charged. Once connected and running, it drops down to 12 and the if I turn the lights on, down to 11.7 and slowly starts to further drop. Shouldn't it be at around 13v? Anyway, how difficult is it to replace the alternator? It's is a i6

Yeah, at least 13.x volts if not 14.x is the normal range for a working alt.
Just check your alternator, the power steer pump sits almost directly above the alt in an I6 and sometimes can stop working due to it being covered in fluid. Alts are pretty cheap from memory, just get one from bursons or some such, and not too difficult to change, i think there's a writeup on here somewhere. Loosen the belt, a couple of bolts, a couple of cables and robert's ya father's brother.

It can also be the alternator's voltage regulator, you can buy them of ebay for around 70 bucks brand new.

Replaced it today with a genuine Ford alternator. Was pretty much as you said it Mr Hardware...the most difficult part was trying to remember how to put the belt back on haha
Anyway, I'm getting 14.4 volts now so I'm happy

Just make sure the P/S pump isn't leaking fluid onto the alternator, or this one will die too
