We should ask GM's Mike Devereaux or Alastair Cook (captain, England cricket team)

if the thought (going to Mars) crossed their mind's.

cheers, Maka

It would be an amazing experience, but leaving everything and spending the rest of your life there with a bunch of complete strangers is a huge hurdle. Apparently they already have several thousand people singed up.

thats incredibly amazing . i wonder if it will really go ahead . i was watching the idea and stage progress . it would end up colonized, if they can create food water and oxygen , and become a town and beyond . seems far fetched , but if it works it will become amazing . exciting to believe we may be at that stage in our time

All of the people signing up for a one way trip to mars,
i don't think they realize............... every waking minute of every day will be used to try and stay alive, there will be none of this loafing on the coach watching footy **** ............every single day will be a battle to stay alive,
if stuff happens the next day.......... there will be no rescue team.

This would be the trip of a lifetime if it weren't for so many human based limitations.

ie: oxygen, pressure, gravity, solar radiation, etc.

I'd say alot of people have simply weighed the risk up against the experience of it. The mere fact that we can seriously talk about colonizing Mars and with China looking to put a habitat on the moon is amazing. If we are really trashing our planet as badly as we're told then these sort of things have to be done for the future of humanity.

You might be right Uber, and I take my hat off to them if thats the case,
but I would expect once more detail comes out for there to be a lot of cold feet among the many that have said they want to go as it gets toward crunch time.

I would love to see it happen, and agree it needs to be done sooner rather than later, not only because we are trashing the place , but because of the numbers, from what little ive picked up from our clever dudes,
our little earth has a history of violent changes over time and it has had a relatively calm 2 or 3 hundred thousand years,
if the pundits are right we are going to come out of that calm time at some stage in future (it might be starting to happen already)and we might face a dinosaur extinction event regardless of what we do on our little rock.
