Default shift light into s-pack dash

hey guys, just had an idea of a shift light. i saw one a while back with a white led that illuminated, which was sweet, how was it done, what materials etc. but instead of using an led, on the ea s-pack dash there is a warning light with no bulbin the back which reads "check alb", not mentioned in the user manual, so i thought of illuminating this when it gets to say 3500rpm. but how can i do it.
any help much appreciated.
cheers
scott

I did an in dash one and detailed it here http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=12739

I would stick with the bright white LEDs. A normal LED/bulb isnt going to be bright enough to grab your attention without you looking at it, which kind of defeats the purpose of the shift light.

hmmm, it could be, but did they have abs warning lights in a 1989 dash, i thought abs came out on eb 2 not ea1, but with a torch it definantly says check alb, and there is a white sticker covering the hole where a bulb goes.
