How can you know how successful it will be if it was never sold here?

I saw new Ecoboost F150 for sale by Harrison Motoring Group at Elmore Field Day last year @ $136,000, they're our local F series specialist.
My dad took me to that when I like 10 or something.....He also used to drive 3hrs to Heathcote drags in the old days on saturday nights then drive us home again!

Was the truck still LHD? How can they ask 136k for a 'standard LHD' truck?

Was speaking to an F 350 4x4 owner the other day while in town parked right out front of new grog shop.....I parked right behind this very big duel cab truck with flat tray.

Owner got out same time as me so I asked how it was.....He loves it and it apparently it was converted by a company across the road from the Broadmeadows factory.

Its the V8 International Diesel with a 6 speed manual with a also a 'low low 1st gear' for taking off with big loads.

All up he can carry 2 tonne on the tray plus tow 5 tonne. Only six trucks like this in Oz.

150ltr tank gets 1200k's on highway!

Thers NOTHING else on the market with these towing capacities.

They are RHD ready to register and go.

EF_6, mind you the F350/350s we got in 2001-2006 are the dodgy Brazil built USA 1999 models with some updates along the track.

I got a quote from VDC in Coolaroo, and they said I had to get a specific model, with specific options as thats the only one they do, so no base models, no 6 cylinder etc.

Conversion and compliance is $40K, just the work to be done to get it legal on the road, nothing else.

F Series probably wouldn't sell enough to justify bringing it over. But IMO Ford missed the boat when the mines were running hot. That industry had so much money being generated they didn't know what to do with it. Probably would has hired a few up north...

Dodge was talking about bringing over the RAM in 2015 a year or two ago when it was up for a ground up redesign.

The best price for conversions seems to be American.com.au. They do Chevys, but I've seen brand new Duramaxes for $100,000. Better than $140k that Harrison charges for F350s.

O.k so they F 150's RHD but not V6 EB......V8 instead?

Not good about the Brazilian built models.....Not sure what year this F350 was it looked like a latish model.

And yeah VDS is the name he mentioned that did his conversion.

Just had a look at stock list and not a single F truck......Seems they're more GM/Dodge based.

I read an article in the West Australian on Saturday that said FoA was concentrating on the Ranger and had no forseeable future interest in the F150. Sad, given the wait for some models of Ranger and even a Ford dealer I was talking to said a lot of interest has been shown in the new F150 to their yard.

They were even approached by one of the mining companies in WA to purchase some for trial but he couldn't get FoA to arrange as Ford US were not interested.

Sad but true......At 130k each a mine might only buy a few for really heavy work but they could prob get away with keeping them LHD cos the BIG dump trucks are all LHD.

And why have an F 150 in sales yard if your not going to supply them???

Harrison's F150 was the EB V6, the VDC one was only 5.4L V8, no other engine option allowed.

Mines wouldnt be interested in the F150 as there is no diesel model.

F150 is just light duty 1/2 tonne model, like the RAM 1500 or Silverado 1500, the 2500/F250 is the 3/4 tonne and the F350/3500 is the 1 tonne, and F450 is a "medium duty" truck.

Mines probably don't even need to have a vehicle RHD like the ones who have LHD Dodge RAM, I'm sure they could just import a F350/450 in LHD and use it as it isnt for use on public roads?

I imagine there is some workcover/insurance BS about LHD and everyone would need to do a 1 month course to drive one, so they probably wouldnt bother since alot are trying to cut costs big time.

Rio Tinto uses F350 V10 petrol sat Kennecott copper mine in Utah. I was surprised they didn't get diesels. They probably care more about the purchase price.
