Default AU S2 6cyl Power Steering Rack Pressure Switch

Hi All

Does anyone know if Power Steering Rack Pressure Switch is in the "open"
contact position when engine is not running?

My idle does not rise when turning steering wheel.

Have tested continuity and the switch currently is in an open contact state and does not change when moving steering wheel.

I am sure it is faulty and new unit is required.
They are a pain to change out.

Cheers
Dazza

FYI, I had mine in November 2012 and here are my notes:

Supply and fit power steer rack switch, o-ring and oil.
Parts $100.30; Labour $50.00; GST $15.03; = $165.33

As you can see the labour component is quite small so if you cant be bothered with the bother get a mechanic to fix it.

The switch only opens when the steering wheel is on a lock, not for normal driving. But the switch is not that hard to replace, I've filled down the sides of a spanner to be able to get more turns on the nut that holds the switch. Yes it is a pain, but doing it yourself will save at least 50 and more if you dont use genuine parts.
