There is speculation the Shell brand is set to disappear and might be replaced by an Asian brand ....also pulling out of Arrow Energy liquid gas partnership.

Shell haven't invested in their brand or stores in a long time, it's no surprise sales are down.
That said, it's a massive game changer Ryeman. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-01-3...ations/5231278 |

Just read an article on Forbes about shell, apparently shell has had a few projects turn out lemons and the company needs to sell up some stock to put back in petty cash. ....... give or take 15 billion.
I suspect due to the extra supply of fuels there is a bit of a glut around the world at the moment, not doing shell any favors . with the fracking etc , US is now a bigger supplier of petroleum than Russia or the arabs. |

Look a bit closer at the events, oil consumption during the GFC dropped considerably................ the oil ccompany's where losing money ............. All of a sudden oil prices came down for a period of time till things started to turn around. by my reckoning the oil consortium s that have the power feel the prices out and keep them at a sustainable max profit level depending on state of the economy's of the world. These people running the planet have their finger on the pulse of the world no doubt about it, so while they think we can afford to pay more...........we pay more, that is my take on it anyway. |

People forget that oil doesn't just go into engines, its the basic starting material for pretty much EVERY synthetic material (from textiles to shampoo). If they profiteered too much, a recession would soon follow and demand for all those other products would plunge. |
