Hi all, I'm new to 4 cylinder cars, and my misses now wants to get into a new fiesta auto, now that her Falcon has been donated to a family member.
Her Falcon has a superb 6 cyl motor which has never missed a beat, burns no oil and has every appearance of going forever. I have read about all the PINGING problems experienced in those little buzz boxes even using Premium fuel. I also know they sell heaps of them, so some people must be happy listening to all that pinging. Would someone who has experienced this problem enlighten me please, is it as bad as it seems when reading the reviews on the subject? We are interested in buying the Zetec model. Any advice very welcome. |

We have had a few Fords that have pinged so I was concerned about getting a Fiesta. However mine has never pinged. I do run it on RON95 though. Great car.

My girlfriend has a 09 Fiesta Zetec Manuel... she used 91 all the time before she met me and it pinged like a mofo... so we tried E10 (91octaine with 10% ethanol) was just as bad, tried 95.... still a lil bit so now we only use 98 in it and its fine... but is very noisy on start up on cold mornings... apparently its all fine...

Also just bit of extra info, her fuel eco sits around 5.9L per 100kms - 6.4L per 100kms combined driving and gets over 620kms to a tank... Sometimes almost hits 700kms. Highway driving iv seen it go below 5.4L per 100kms.
Cheers. |

you do seem to hear quite a few of the small cars pinging their guts out, you have to wonder what the engines will be like in a couple of years.
