As the title suggests, it simply doesn't play. Loads ok but it doesn't seem to spin up the CD for initial read or play. I am using original discs and some home burns.
I wouldn't think it would be as simple as a head / laser cleaner...... as it wont spin that either. I dont want to replace / upgrade the unit as I want to keep it original. Is there a good reliable technician in the outer east of Melb that could fix the issue? Cheers

The best thing to do is get it repaired, and store it somewhere safe.
I'm sure it will play up again otherwise. Mine was pretty good with the odd glitch, but the best thing I've done is replace it with a single DIN with an SD card slot, and MP3 CD playback. Very simple plug and play install with a loom adapter, and a Single DIN holder . |

When mine stopped playing discs I pulled it out and took the casing off to have a look. It's all very flimsy inside but I just cleaned up the runners and gears, reset the drawers to closed and put it back together. I couldn't pick where the problem actually was but I got the feeling that the drive sprocket, that pulls the drawers out to position the disc to play, had skipped a tooth on it's gears which basically stopped the disc from getting to the right position to play. This is why I reset everything to zero (as it were), and it's worked fine ever since.

I had the 6 stacker cd player in my AUIII XR8 ute repaired by the guru's at ASL automedia a few years ago. They told me they put the internals from a BF 6 stack cd player into it.
Hasn't missed a beat since..... |
