A mate of mine was slicing an onion on a mandolin slicer,
his mandolin was broken though and it didn't have the bit that you are ment to put your hand on to use to push the onion through it. anyway he got distracted and sliced about half his thumb off, he had to have plastic surgery and have some flesh put in there to repair it.

I got beat up by a school crossing once. Broken ribs, leg, and six fingers.

How about losing half a finger on the mower!
No it wasn't caught in the blades.

I was using a wire wheel on the drill to clean up some rust on an old trailer, I was leaning over the work area at the time. My shirt got caught in the wire brush & wrapped itself around my hand & finger that was on the trigger, it just kept going! By the time I knew what was happening, it was all I could do to stand on the extension lead & pull the drill out of the socket. After that I could feel a burning sensation on my belly, I looked down & seriously half my belly was like severe gravel rash. Lesson learned, never wire brush with power tools & loose clothing.

Similar story.
I was using 5in angle grinder to cut down some thickish pieces of steel while wearing a flannelet shirt, sleeves down and not buttoned.
The line of sparks must have been lined up nicely with my sleeve and soon caught fire.
I didn't notice immediately, but funny how quick you can remove a shirt when its on fire.

Amazing how quick you can remove a pair of pants when a bit of crap pops out of an aluminium casting while tig welding it, just misses your gennies and lodges in your thigh. Worst welding burn I ever had.

More from the genitalia fails department. Was arc welding up some security bars for my shed and house crouching on the ground wearing loose shorts and going "commando" - hey it was a weekend!

No hot embers, but I learned about flashburn the hard way. Very tender boy for a few days.

Cheers!

Well stupidity may have been involved, as we know kids brains are a long way from full development. She was cleaning a filter while standing on the bench, decided to take a step to the side a fell in the fryer. Unexpected danger is everywhere.

Apparently the screaming was unholy. It must have hurt so much.
