Default 2014 Ford Focus update

]

I

Quote:
After looking at the leaked press photos of the Ford Focus facelift, we’ve been left feeling a little bit disappointing. It’s not a bad car, but also not spectacular to look at either. It’s almost as if they only wanted to make a littler version of the upcoming Mondeo, not an amazing compact all on its own.

To wash the vanilla taste in our mouth, we decided to check out what Auto Express had to say yesterday (21 Feb), before the photos came out. According to them, and you can take this with a grain of salt, no new engines will be available at launch. Instead, the 1.5-liter EcoBoost and 1.5-liter diesel three-bangers will be added later on. If they’re not making this up, then we’re likely to see the new engines at the same time as the new Mondeo’s launch, which I believe is late this year. That’s because the 1.5 EcoBoost is a brand new engine from Ford, which was launched in America on the Escape sedan, the identical twin to the Mondeo.

Also according to AutoExpress, Ford is going to offer a plug-in version of the Focus, based on the technology developed Stateside for the plug-in C-Max. It’s really a waiting game now, as Ford might make all this info official in Geneva, where the car is going to be revealed next month.

I do like the look of the new interior, more refined than the current one but I can't say the same for the exterior, looks a little drab in with that grille.
Much prefer the front of the current Focus.

Lol, I especially like this part. 'Escape sedan, the identical twin to the Mondeo'.
Who would have known.

It looks fantastic! I can't wait to see the ST! I'll be getting a new car of some sort in 2015-16 and currently my heart is saying a FH Falcon but my brain is liking this car a lot (assuming the ST will look good, and I'm sure it will.)

I reckon it looks heaps better than the current one. Should knock the Mazda 3 off its perch

I'd like an interior like that in the FH...

Bugger the ST, bring on the RS (if they don't do a Fiesta one). Agreed though, cannot wait to see the new ST. Would like to see a different rim offered too.
Ford keep going from strength to strength with the Focus. Truly a world class car.

Very nice :-) . Relatively mild update over the current model, but looks great! 6spd powershift will be just fine for me if I was upgrading (which I won't be). It drives great and returns excellent real world fuel economy. Some may have had problems with theirs, but reviews are positive, and mine also operates very well - no complaints whatsoever. Manual would probably be the choice if towing, though.

Engine responds very well to mods, but auto gearbox can become unsettled trying to cope with the extra torque. Good fuel economy overall: 9-12L/100km city, 8L/100 country.

The grill is similar to the electric Focus sold in the US. We obviously get the UK version here as the dash layout is different. I much prefer the US dash layout, much cleaner, not as cluttered. It will be interesting to see what we end up getting here??

The interiors of the current Focus built in the USA/Canada already have the big screen, so until I see a photo of a RH drive version of the 2014/15 to see what Australia and the rest of the world get.
