Angry Browser Issues

Hi, i'm having problems accessing sites with my browser. Ok firstly I just reinstalled windows less than a week ago for the exact same problem and for it to come up again so quickly is a nightmare.

Basically I used to use Netscape and it served me ok for a while then I saw that firefox had been becoming popular with some of you in this forum so I downloaded it and used it. It worked for a while then it both netscape and firefox come up with errors for any site I wanted to look up. You know normal everyday errors like "this site cannot be found" ect. Then I tried to use IE and it worked ok for a week then it come up with the "page cannot be found" error. After trying all night to find a solution on yahoo chat I just got sick of it and installed windows with the hope of eliminating spyware from the get go. Well last night after using both firefox and windows explorer both are having the same issue yet again. Sites are taking minutes to load then they just come up with errors.

I've downloaded a couple of things today to get rid of junk files and delete unwanted crap from my registy but so far nothing has my the browsers work any better. I also disabled my firewall and pop-up stopper and even my antivirus but the same result occured.

Does anybody out there know how to fix the problem. By the way i'm on a different PC with the same ISP right now and on the internet fine. I also tried system restore but it failed... :togo:

Did you do a format before reinstalling windows? IF not then that wont have fixed your problem anyway.
If you did, sounds like its a hardware fault...maybe your phone line is bad....does your connection drop out often or stay connected?
does msn messenger or other messenger work? Outlook? other internet applications?
Which version of windows are you running?

ok update: i'm using win xp, yes I formatted the drive before installing, phone line is good (it's the same one as this pc i'm on now), connection stays on and doesn't cut out and windows messenger and msn messenger both sign on perfectly. I don't know about outlook as I don't use it.

I got a fix for the "page cannot be found issue" so now instead of loading the sites for 5 minutes and then coming up with an error they actually load the site eventually. But it still takes about 5 minutes for each page and the connection speed is normal.

I'm not sure that could be something to do with my modem as there was a little trouble installing that at first. Could it be something to do with that?

(by the way my computer says that the device is working perfectly)

There was a problem the other night with some ISP's not being able to browse any sites outside of Australia.

However I'm inclined to think that your having a configuration problem, maybe try deleting your old dial up connection and creating a new one. I know it sounds weird but it's worked for me before and it can't do any harm. By doing that it will default to reasonably sensible setting that should work properly.

Oh and put your firewall back on, and restart Windows. :voldar02:

Good Luck!
