One of the rear clusters in my MC hatch has got quite a lot of dust inside, coating the reflective parts and building up at the bottom. I am planning to take it off the car and rinsing it out to get the dust out from inside. Getting the light custer off seems quite straight forward (bolts accessible behind the trim on the inside of the boot, lights can be disconnected/removed) - does anyone see any problems with my plan? I'm concerned that I won't be able to remove all the electronics, the water might damage the light or that it won't dry properly afterwards.

I know with the MB, you remove the connection and globe holder then it's just the three mounting nuts and it's out, it's all plastic from there on in so you can completely submerge in water and let dry.

I think the MC had LED rear lights. No idea what this means in terms of construction - led 'bulb' or moulded in at manufacture?

Thanks! I think only the Titanium has LEDs. Mine is a lowly LX with incandescent bulbs.

My MC (Zetec) Hatch uses LEDs for the tail light "arch" & brake lights. The inidcators and reverse lights are normal globes.
Although there are two indicator globes per side, probably for redundancy.
