Default ka 2 headlights

righto ,,
my daughter has aquired a 2000 model ka 2 , and it has a headlight problem ,,,
no high beam .
the switch for the lights has two positions , and even on the first click , it goes to low beam with park lights . second click ,, no change .
all fuses are in place and working ,,,
but some twonk along the way has put a wire from the lights on buzzer , to the low beam fuse ..
there is two low beam , and two high beam fuses ..
removing this " jumper " wire reduses you to park lights on the front of the car , and the left rear light turns off .
placing the jumper wire to the high beam fuses , the high beams come on ," so the globes all work " .. but the lows and parks dont light up ,,
whats going on here ,,
?
any help would be appreciated .

Twonk is probably the right word.

Let's start with the connectors at the back of the lights. There should be a 7 pin plug as follows:

Green/Black - High Beam +ve
Purple/Orange - Low Beam +ve
Orange/Blue - Sidelamp +ve
Orange - Indicator +ve
Blue - Levelling Motor feed (where fitted)
Black (two of) grounds - one for each of high and low beam by the look of the diagram.

If you have different colours let me know as there are two different specs for the headlamps.

Cheers
Russ

cheers for the reply mate .

after more " buggerarsing " arround with it last night i noted that there was no heater fan either ..
some internet trawling for a few hours resulted in the answer was the small resister that lives under the " glovebox" spinning tray arrangement they have . seemed to be a likely culprit for no fan . a call to my local dealer here in hobart resulted in the ,, " sorry mate ,, now obsolete ,,," ,, even tho its a shared part on focus's . !
but today was another day , and once id removed the fuse panel from the dash , there was a relay just about to fall out ........
gave it a nudge back into place ,,, turned the ignition to on and presto ,,,,, the heater fan that id left on 4 erupted into life ,,,, a small but satisfied grin appeared ....
then on trying the lights ,,,, yeeeeehaaaaa ..!!!!
park lights ,,, low beam , and the very missing high beam became alive ..
it was instantly beer o'clock .

seems odd that the heater fan and high beam relay are interconnected tho ..
but im elated .

They are indeed related - most of the relays are multi-purpose. Glad you got a result.

Cheers
