I drove to Sydney on the weekend for the first time in many years. When I put fuel in I noticed the 91 octane fuel contained 10% Ethanol. In Victoria only the E85 is described as such.
Does all 91 octane fuel in NSW contain 10% ethanol? Can I use it in my EL 4.0 Monty (I didn't, I filled up with 98 octane fuel).

E85 is supposed to be 85% ethanol dude
United 100 is also E10 but theres also E10 in Victoria which is 91. I think 91 got replaced in NSW with E10 a while back, so if you want to avoid it I guess 95 would be the way to go. |

At least that is what I read somewhere. Seems to be the trend where 91 is being phased out for a cheaper to buy E10(91).

I'm pretty sure legally they need to advertise where ethanol is used in the fuel because there are motors that can't have ethanol.
So you just bought E10. If you'd found a station that just said "unleaded" or "91" without any ethanol mention, then you'd be fine. And yes an EL can run E10. I think it's rubbish fuel, but it'll certainly do the job.

In NSW 91 has largely been replaced by E10. However some places do still offer 91 octane without ethanol. Most BP's and 7/11's still have 91, and occasionally you'll find a Shell or Caltex with 91. If the fuel contains ethanol it will be labelled as doing so.

E10 is 94 octane unless fuel companies make lower octane then add ethanol to boost it ??
