Hi All,
I lost my spare remote key fob. Ford can replace it with cutting and reprogramming for $450!! I can buy from ebay UK second hand unit with blank key for $50. Is it possible to reprogram new remote fob into my car. Ford part number showing is 3M5T-15K601-AB. If my remote have the same number, can I use a programming method explained on the forum to reprogram remote? Has any any done it before and can share some knowledge, please. I don't want to buy the remote fob and then find out that it can't be used. Any advise will be appreciated. Regards Greg |

Yes you can reprogram as long as you still have one active remote.
Cheers Russ

I recently replaced a flip key for an FG - still had the key so really only needed the transponder coded (I just swapped key and electronics for remote over). All up cost was $35 for the key which includes the remote fob, and then $70 for Ford to code it. For just a fob, that should be around the same price if you need Ford to do anything for you.

Thanks for your replays.
Ford is asking $154 for reprograming. I will get the fob from ebay and try to do it myself. I still need to cut the key first. Do I need to check the part number in my existing fob to match the UK models? Regards Greg |

I have open my remote fob, however there was no part number.
The UK ebay parts are showing following numbers: 3M5T-15K601-AC 3M5T-15K601-AB 3M5T-15K601-DB I don't know which one to buy. Only last two letters are different. Any thoughts. Regards Greg |

I finally bought a genuine transponder and the blank key from ebay (the same part numbers as in my other key. I cut the key and reprogramed it using a method from TalkFord forum with the second active transponder. It worked fine, however I can only open and closed the doors remotely.
I can't start the engine, display showing "Immobiliser active" message when I turn the key in the ignition. Do I need to go to Ford and pay $154 for coding it to the car ECU, or is there another method to deactivate the immobiliser function on the new key fob? Any advise appreciated. Regards Greg |
