Wow, a whole lot of us and them in this thread. It's almost better in the conflict department than reality TV. They may as well give up trying to have any connection with the enthusiast community, and get on with crushing the rumbling lowered wrecks of old hoons/farts like me. Hopefully this thing makes WSID and not just a Westfield Shoppingtown.

They won't sell it. It along with the R-Spec #150 will go into a museum I have heard...

Obviously not buy I'm not driving around fining other people for doing the same thing. I also didn't spend other people's money on my mods.

You can't try and pretend you're all for modifying your car when it suits you for the cameras then spend the rest of the time at war with modified car owners.

Very hypocritical.
But as you state your modified car does not have a compliance certificate and without being sure if the cops one does or not you are calling them the hypocrites'???

As voting taxpayers mate you have the right to agree with government decisions just as others have the right to disagree. Lets leave it at that.

But knowing what those decisions are , ie who funded it and if it is complied, before getting on the cop bashing bandwagon would be a good idea!!

Even if it is taxpayer funded, that's a drop in the ocean compared to what they waste on other more useless, less fun, less v8 and less ford things.

People on this forum, if anyone, should be stoked they picked a ford and not a SRT8 or something.

Just so you know guys, there are actually 3 of these special HWP vehicles. They are funded not by the Police, but by the RMS Department of Road Safety and are used to engage car enthusiasts at shows and special events. The first was the FPV GT-R Spec (call sign HWY150),
a new HSV GTS (call sign HWY151) and the FPV GTF (call sign HWY152). These cars are not used operationally, although they are setup with all the gear and have the capability. I think that it is a cheap but effective way of advertising road safety and reaches a broad spectrum of people. Not everyone is going to agree with it, but you can't say these cars don't encourage discussion whether it be positive or negative. So at the end of the day they have achieved there aims. As the old saying goes "Any publicity is good publicity". Everyone talking about it on forums is exactly what their looking for good or bad.

did anyone notice at bathurst that the driver seat bolster was already showing signs of wear and the interior was filty?
must be getting some use out of it already which is a good thing
i guess if it was just a show car, uniformed police would not be driving it but it had all the signs of trim damage due to the cop belt

i'd love you see this on the road just not behind me

I see it Daily. And they definitely use it! Not sure how many speeders they are catching, but the amount of 0-80k "sprints" they give it are astronomical.
