Get a steel one out of an AU.. much stronger and will lower your compression ever so slightly over the cardboardy ones. Also get au head bolts they have a bigger shoulder on the top of the bolt and are stronger

I dont want to decompress that much, as if i take off supercharger might loose power, will the au headgasket be more durable, what, are other options, to stop this from happening again.

Well my car runs a 9psi powerdyne, took the head off and yep number 6 cylinder was the problem, the chamber had got to hot and the side of 6 cylinder, the gasket bowed and split abit, so i have told the people checking the head, and they are going to look into a headgasket for the application, take it from me, if you have forced induction, always have the fuel to cope with the heat, do not let it lean, i will be connecting the rising reg, and fuel pump, and before i put the belt back on, will be getting it tuned.

AU gaskets are steel and are far more durable. Part of the reason so few AUs ever blew headgaskets. As for head bolts, Ford doesn't sell anything other than the AU bolts. Part # AU6564A from memory...

ea ba turbo is running 2 AU headgaskets.
Not sure what torque settings they're using though.

IMO use a standard ford gasket or maybe an ACL or similar graphite gasket, and make sure the head is nice and straight, head bolts are torqued to spec and the engine is tuned properly. If these things are done properly, there is no reason for a head gasket to blow, especially with a powerdyne.
Steel gaskets are very strong and will hold up to boost but the problem with that if the tune is out, instead of a head gasket blowing you will melt a piston instead. Head gaskets are a safe failure point, I would much rather change a head gasket then rebuild a bottom end. |

I'd be using a stock ACL EA-L head gasket as insurance. ...how to stop it happening again. Get a decent tune and it will be peachy

Yeah the stock gaskets are fine as long as you get it tuned well, ie no detonation at all.
Ive done a good 10 000kays with 15psi and havnt blown the headgasket,a good tune is the key to keeping these motors alive and reliable.

yeh i thought so, i was meant to get it tuned but i was slack, i know it was running lean but when you got the power on tap, and someone pulls up next to you, you forget, and exactly what happened.

I think someone already said it, but two AU gaskets would have to be a good thing?
