clutch slave not cheap

can come with the whole clutch kit (makes sense)

uses a
a borg and beck Concentric Slave Cylinder for the Ford Fiesta

so If the clutch slave is suspect --the box has to come out - just to replace this part

and slave cyl part is holding the throw out bearing to the clutch -over the input shaft

will do a write up about this job ...if it comes my way

box out from underneath leave subframe in place.
OR
if you don't have AC in the car its quicker and easier to drop engine and box out from underneath then split

found out today - and looked at it for the first time its a 1999 model
getting a battery to test drive it and do diagnostics and compression test
unreg for some reason
how do you bleed the internal master cyl

pretty good shape straight no rust - had a lot of work done
444000 k but not the original motor

gearbox from the bottom will work better for me

looks like
undo the centre brace
drive shafts out
take off gearbox attachments - drop out below - not too bad I would say

no repair manual yet
doing more research

It'll be a Festiva, not a Fiesta as we didn't get them in Australia until later.

I've got the genuine shop manual for a WF Festiva, I'm scanning the manual trans removal procedure and I'll link to it up here.

Fluid inspection and replacement:

Its based on a Mazda platform, built by Kia and sold as a Ford

Depending on engine variant you have, it'll either be a Mazda B3 (1.3L) or B5 (1.5L) engine.

I have one here also, pretty easy to work on lots of room in the engine bay compared to most FWD cars getting around today.

I don't think it would, thats more of a modern thing, these Festivas are quite basic cars but damn they put up with some punishment though, we've had ours since new, 274,000km with missing services its whole life and she still starts up and runs, never had a mechanical failure either.

yes it has a Kia name on one engine bay tag ---
going to be interesting if the parts guy doesnt know kia -ford -mazda parts
no to fitting a dual mass flywheel --they are trouble (failure rates high)
badges on side of car say its a 1.5 motor
(thank you BigDamo.)
yes plenty of room in the engine bay
yep thats the gearbox alright
didnt know the speedo was the gearbox fill up point

now this forum has festiva information fantastic

this is similar to the car

i like the simple style cars, i just watched a video of bmw clutch job, dual mass the whole bit, crikey , for a clutch job they did have to replace a lot of parts, my mate had a clutch done on bmw mini, for the cost of his clutch repair i could buy half a fiesta or a kia, ive said this before, but if some people new the cost to do repairs/general maintenance on their small economy cars up front......they would not go near them.
