Hey I've been vaping for quite a while now instead of smoking and am just curious at those who have kicked the habit for vaping instead or kicked it completely?
Me personally I've been off the death sticks for over a year now and vape instead and still wonder how I smoked for so long!

Oh that kind of vapouriser....I thought you might have found one like Marvin the Martian used to use on the Bugs Bunny show....I could use one of them.

Hahaha should of also specified e-cigarette but I think Marvin's vapouriser would be more beneficial at times.

tried one and could see how it would help me kick the habit however I miss the nicotine. Have looked into importing nicotine and going that way but as the darts approach a dollar each that should be motivation enough just to stop all together.
maybe.

Ah yes I import pure nicotine to make e-juice for my vapouriser, you can also order it with the flavouring from an american company which is what I do too. I vape the nic juice during the day and just plain flavouring at night to help me relax and kick the nicotine.
Since I used to spend $120 a week on smokes I was already up in the first month with all my purchases!

If you must smoke then it definitely makes sense as practically all the negative health effects are avoided (as well as the chronic ones ie fatigue, respiratory, flus/colds, yellow teeth/nails etc). I had a volcano for over a year and recently sold it :(

Ahh so you were one of those oddballs that walked around with a giant plastic bag ;) haha my mates got one of those, damn great machines but not cheap to buy, I have 3 mechanical mod vapourisers now mainly built for cloud chasing.
It becomes a bit of a hobby after a while and constantly getting stopped and asked questions, good to see there are some people on here who have used them.

What did you end up getting in terms of mod mate? Are you still vaping nic or just flavour?

Can you use them in doors at places like restaurants etc? I'm thinking about getting a mate something good for his birthday, he smokes a fair bit.

Completely agree, I'm vaping endless summer from fuzion vapour, they do amazing juices those blokes but are copping the same BS by the FDA about vapes....I highly suggest anyone wanting to quit smoking to get into them and do some research.

Mates, this is my little input, think of it what you may.
Just over six years ago, I smoked my last coffin nail. To help, I took to the Nicabate lozenges. They where great, until after some months, I was dashing to the dunny every couple of hours. Yeah that (forgot the compound) catches up on you. So I switched to the chewies, 2mg - 4mg, depending on the mood. I've been hooked on the chewies for 6 years. I don't desire a smoke, I can hang out with smokers no prob. I haven't put on weight, which is a big downer when you quit. I'm probably spending half what a smoker spends (seriously, I should be spending next to nothing if the Quit mob were serious) and this is the big one... I haven't had a (proper) cold or a flu in seven years. I've forgotten what it is like to lay moribund in a bed for a day or so. I don't remember what a runny nose is. If I ever feel off colour, I up the nicotine (and bitter beer = hops), and wake up the next morning okay. Sure, I might have the odd cough or sneeze, or the day when things feel achey, but this is minimal. Meanwhile, I'm being called into work to cover sick people, and my available sick leave runs to almost 2000 hours. I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has a similar story. Last time I quit cold turkey, I ended up in hospital with Viral Meningitus!

Great to hear Madaya! I quit cold turkey for about a year with one or two smokes, I missed the habit more than anything which the vape really helps. Had an old bloke who was addicted to chewies as an ex smoker, not a chance in hell you'd ever get one off him, but everyone has their vices.
I find smoke free, I wake up a lot easier, don't cough a lung up, my fitness hasn't changed though. As a smoker I could out run most people who didn't smoke, but I'm 6'1 at only 78kg so not big by any means. I don't crave smoking/vaping as much when I was a smoker either, but really enjoy the hobby side of vapourisers and can keep the social aspect!

I quit smoking in 2000 after 25yrs on the nails. I basically went cold turkey with a little help from old grass clippings when the craving got too bad. After 3 weeks your system is clear of nicotine and then it was just finding something to do with my hands as the urge to draw my hand to mouth was very strong. I found shelling peanuts worked for me, it kept my hands busy and gave me something to bring to my mouth till the urge subsided without pigging out on too many nuts. That and barley sugar and the odd chewie kept me from rolling smokes. It took 3 months before I stopped wanting to put things in my mouth and another 12 months before I stopped wanting a smoke. After 24 months I stopped thinking about smokes at all and at 36 months I stopped having urges to light up when I had a few drinks.
These days I can smell a smoker from 6-8 feet away in still air and can't stay in a confined space with someone smoking as the second hand smoke affects my lungs. But I keep my mouth shut and don't complain because there's nothing worse than a preachy born again non-smoker.

I smoked for 12 years. When I found my wife was pregnant I just threw the pack and havnt touched one since. Been two years now.
Well im sorta lying. 2 months into it, warm friday arvo after work, was working on the car smashing a crownie. I opened the top draw to my toolbox and what do I see, a packet of winfields with 1 smoke inside. Lol. Too tempting especially with the beer. I sparked up, had about 5 drags and it tasted like ****. I say it was the best thing I ever done lighting up after 2 months because it totally turned me off smoking for good. Tasted absolutely foul. |

I'm the exact same, cannot touch a smoke now unless its a menthol so I don't taste the damn thing! Still love the smell of a freshly lit smoke but after that it feels like it starts to burn the nostrils and I have to stay away if in direct position of the smoke
I still get odd looks with the amount of clouds my vape produces when I am out at a cafe, they then realise you can't really smell it and don't care. No one has said anything yet besides coming up to ask what I am using. The guys at BPR had a good chuckle at it today.

Yeah happened a few months ago remember one of the vape stores had to close down, poor bastards. There is a new site up regarding how 'harmful' vaping is. Unfortunately there is no conclusive evidence yet for all vaporisers and those tested were beyond levels of normal human consumption. Really grinds my gears some of the tests done are so out of whack.
""What has happened in the last couple of years is the big tobacco companies have been buying up e-cigarette companies." This is one of the biggest issues regarding a lot of the 'so called' tests done on vapourisers. I suggest anyone wanting better facts regarding them check out aussie vapours forums or others of the like. There are quite a lot of research papers posted on there from the source, as opposed to the satirical articles you'll find 90% of the time on the web. I myself have done quite a lot of research into it but everyone is entitled to an opinion and their own form of research. Its only illegal to sel

Back when I quit there were no vapes, no patches, no mini-mints, and no gum (although I recall seeing it in American TV shows.) I just quit. You can call it "cold turkey" if you like, but what other sort of "quitting" is there? Just my 2 cents worth, but I suspect (my opinion only) that all these things simply PROLONG the nicotine addiction? To be honest, its hard for me to really recall just how hard it was to quit. I can remember drinking too much coffee, until I had to switch to tea which was much harder to OD on. Fortunately at the time, I was on a real health kick, so I was getting trim and fit, rather than putting on weight (as I have done now.)

You can get vapourisers without nicotine, its true quitting all together is going to be better I agree. My biggest issue was breaking the habit of actually smoking, hand to mouth etc etc
Vapes helped with that and I cut down in the nicotine a lot. Always keep thinking how did I ever smoke when they taste so bad :P

If you want to know what most ex smokers reaction is to smoking and second hand smoke now and their attitude to the smell and taste of tobacco, go find an ashtray, take a deep sniff then have a big lick.

One thing I miss about not being able to taste as well and smell things, is when someone decides to drop one in a closed car.....Having your sense of smell can sometimes just be the darnedest thing haha
