Default Red Oval

I occasionally see old Fords, especially old British ones with a red oval ford badge, instead of a blue one.

Got me wondering where when and why they did that and when it stopped.
Cant find much info on it.

Can anybody shed some light on the Red Oval?

a quick google would say its in relation to ford tractors that had the red ford logo...

Ive seen regular oval ford badges in red instead of blue on ebay,maybe they got them there.

vaguely remember some Sierras and Orions from the 80s had red badges.....
