Default 2011 Titanium hatch annoyances

I have had the car for 4 months and love it. It's the 2 litre diesel power shift auto. I do have a couple of things that are annoying me though:

1) The door rubbers make a hell of a lot of noise as they rub against the body of the car. The car seems to have a lot of body flex and, when I drive slowly over an uneven surface, the door rubbers squeak against the door frame. I have tried some silicone spray but this only mildly fixes the issue for a few days.

2) The trim around the gear shift does not secure very well and has a habit of lifting out of place. It should clip and lock into place, but it doesn't. In addition, it makes a constant stick/unstick noise as I am driving along. I have had it replaced by Ford but the new one is no different.

Anyone had these issues and can suggest solutions?

Shouldn't this be covered by warranty if you only had it for 4 months?

Service dept didn't want to know about the noisy door seals ("they're all like that"). And I am not keen on having them replace the door seals in case they screw something else up.

Anyway, I've done more research online and this appears to be a quite common problem. Not just for mondeo owners, but also other marques incl BMW.

Some get the door seals replaced and it works half the time. Others have used a product called Gummi Pflege Stick which fixes the prob for anywhere up to a year.

Think I'll try this first.

On the second item, I think I'll push this further with ford. It's possible the trim piece is not the issue, but rather the housing it needs to clip into.

Cheers.

I have been using Einszett Gummi Pfledge (made in Germany) for a few years now with great results. I have used this on many cars and works a treat on all.
Highly recommended!!!

Seems to be a standard response in some dealerships (e.g. my own brakes issue).
My 2010 XR5 hatch is silent, no door squeaks whatsoever.

If the cover plate is popping out all the time, then (as you suuggested) the console is maybe not fitted properly. Could be under tension, then with some body flex (which all cars do, the degree just varies), the cover plate pops out again. This is a WARRANTY ISSUE.

I had flexing noise on my MA, mainly going up driveways at a slow speed.

I took it to the dealer and tightened up the rear suspension and that sorted some of the noises in the rear.

I just think it's how it is. Not perfect, nor acceptable to many of us, but that's cars.

I've had 2 Mk 4 Mondeos and neither has ever made any noise from the door seals. And both have been driven in quarries over some pretty rough terrain, so if your dealer won't fix it, I'd get on to Ford.

The first one had some squeaks from the centre console and that plate was a little loose, but never popped out.

I hate giving my car to the dealership unless absolutely necessary. So here's the update:
1) Gummi Pfledge on order for the noisy door seals. I'll report back once I have applied it.
2) I managed to resolve the noisy trim piece. I used some adhesive felt to force a tighter fit and all fixed now.

Thanks for all your replies.

Have now applied the Gummi Pfledge and pleased to report that 95% of the noise is gone. Highly recommend this product.

Here you go; http://www.waxit.com.au/
or eBay. I don't think it is available from the stores you listed.

I have both the problems the OP had on my 2011 as well. I'll have to get me some of that Gummi Pflege. It sounds the goods.

Thanks for the tips!

Just used the Gummi Pfledge on the door seals of my Mondeo and the noise around my drivers side door has disappeared. An excellent product.

Cheers,
