Default ZG Fairlane help

Need to replace the Ignition switch on my ZG Fairlane (Variety Bash vehicle)

1)
Cannot remove the steering lock. Have removed the key & lock barrel plus the four retaining screws but despite significant movement the steering lock won't come out. It is a column shift auto so I am wondering if that complicates the issue somehow? Anyone had this issue before?

2) Will likely fit a complete aftermarket ignition switch so need to sort out the wiring. Colours don't seem to match either XA or XB.

I have:

Yellow. - Battery
Yellow with White stripe. - Ignition
Red with Blue stripe. - Starter
Green with Black stripe. - Accessories
Purple. - ???????????

Anyone shed any light on what the purple might be?

Thanks in advance,
Graham

According to the schematics I have the Purple goes to Series Resitance which taps off to the Distributor and starter motor.
When the scanner decides to start working again I will post the schematics up for you.

Regards

Damn, I wish i knew this earlier. Was at dad's and he has the worksop manual for the XB/ZG. If you have no luck in the meantime will pop over on the weekend.

I have a Haynes manual but it says "Remove the 4 screws" and then it comes out. But my suspicion is it is more complex for a column shift auto because it won't come out of Park while the steering is locked.
