Pretty sure it has been done but the biggest issue is space. Even with a later model 250 cross-flow ( think XF ) the radiator support panel needs to be moved forward. It definitely can be done and would make a great project car!

Sourbastard looked into this for his XP rebuild and it was all just too hard. He went for the 302 in the end.
It can fit but getting it in and then engineered is a major hassle apparently. Not to mention all the electrics needed.

True why go to all the trouble when I cant drive it on the road.
Im still keen but will just have to talk to sour bastard before I consider it any further.
I was thinking power to weight would be good though
I remember someone saying they had a "good" engineer forget where though
Meh I might have to do some digging as well.
I could see monting would be a problem.

I chaecked there is enough room but the radiator and mounts i'll need to check radiator sizes and mounting alignment now
I would put this in the project car section but i still mightnt do it so yeah
Also anyone got any ideas if i can get a front cut off ef-au and how much?

it may look like theres enough room, but there aint.
Essentially the serpentine belt will foul on the radiator unless you mount the engine further back by recessing the firewall.

Ive seen the conversion done with a BA six and it was tight even with the recess. To put it further into perspective, the smaller 250 crowssflow has about 1/4 of an inch clearance with the smaller v belt to the radiator.

If i mount it on the front of the car behind the grill I should (just) get away with it.
(is that legal) I still need to measure up the mounts etc so if i decide to go through with it i know it wont be easy.
I'm just gonna double check my measuments.

Ok on my ef:fwall-front of radiator 950mm
fwall-block(Rear)30mm
fwall-front of timing cover 810mm
front of timing cover-back of thermofan cowl35mm
widthof engine at mount aprrox 400mm
width of engine fromexhaust to bbm aprox 600mm
xp engine bay fwall-top radiator support 890mm
width ample
infront of radiator mount upto 140mm
It will fit or would you prefer i just chuck rotor, supra or rb in it
i dont wanna turn it into foyota or a fordabishi.
Not worried about the time it might take and if i have to tow it around i will but from that point of view i may aswell chuck a windsor in it and i just wanna little retrotech xp thats all.

Best of luck, but I can assure you if it was as easy as relocating the radiator to the other side of the support, people would be doing that, rather then recessing firewalls.

Do you need an engineers report if you recess the firewall?

I say have a go triple8nitro!

I'd love to see an earlybird Falcon kitted out with an OHC six.
I'm sick of seeing them filled up with Windsor V8's (no offense to anyone )

If I ever get the balls to do one myself that's what I'd be hoping to achieve.

A clean retrotech OHC I6 early Falcon, nice!

Thanks sourbastard i'll look into that then. Might be something to do with mount or what not. I,ll speak to an engineer about it first.

Now a reliable RB30 tubro would go well in the old Ford. I don't think I've seen that done.
