Anyone else suffer from this?

I think I'm allergic to something un the yard as this is the second flare up that I've had. The first last year my face blew up like elephant man and my arms and hands had welts. This time around arms, hands, torso and legs itching like mad and welts.

Anyone else suffer from this? Sleep is limited and the scratching and burning....

Will now be going in for the patch test to find out what it could be

I have had dermatitus on my hands for 15 years think it's from not wearing gloves while using chemicals, gardening tends to make them worse.
Msg can bring out rashes and hives like symtoms around 7 days after consuming, nasty chemical for your body.

I'm highly allergic to English Ivy. Last time I handled it I came up in huge welts all over my body along with a psoriasis looking rash. I also suffer from eczema and have done so since I was born.

Just spent the last couple of weeks getting over a bout of what you are talking about, added to a reaction to grass and leech bites.

Started off with an allergic reaction to some grass that I had to crawl through to do a job under some temporary sheds. A couple of days later after a wet MTB ride I came away with 8 leech bites, the more bites you have over time you have the worse reaction you get. To top that off I got the contact dermatitis from some spray degreaser that I used a week later.

The contact dermatitis was on my hands and feet. At the time I was thinking I should have been wearing nitrile gloves....I think my feet went out on sympathy because I didn't spray anywhere near my feet.

I pretty much spent 2 weeks not able to wear shoes because if I wore them too long the heat would build up and it would flare up and sting like crazy.

Antihistamine, Neurofen Plus and Panadol together during the day, at night Phenergan if necessary, I tried cortisole cream which seemed to work a bit, previously I have used calamine lotion too. Cold works too, to get the heat out. Run cold tap/shower water over it. Ice packs etc. Driving around in the work van I put the aircon on my feet and hands and that did wonders. For a couple of nights I wore wet socks on my hands and feet, and re-wet them when they dried out. That got me through the worst of it.

For a few days I had cold showers using as little soap as possible, and I have used Pinetarsol soap in the past.

May seem extreme but when your nerve endings feel like they are on fire and you can just about feel each and every one of them individually you have to experiment.

Still getting the ghost itches which take a while to go away, but it has stopped waking me up during the night.

I just keep putting that dermo cream on it disguises it to some degree so i put it on before i go out.
It's amazing the crap we put up with for years.
It gets very painfull when i get the deap splits in skin either on the knuckles or under the fingers.

Thanks for sharing guys. I guess I'm still coming to terms with all this, as now I will have this for the rest of my life apparently.

Dad used to get the same from working with fibreglass. If you get plastic disposable gloves and put them on over the cream at night before bed, it should heal up a lot faster.

My friend is having a problem at the moment. She's allergic to her boyfriend's pet snake. The sores on her legs are weeping and infected, but I don't think she's doing much about it.

Have you got any Poison Ivy in the yard?

Almost impossible for us to say what it is but do feel for you - very painful all that.
Antihistamines until you get to see a doctor - but don't overdo it.

Don't know what it is that is triggering these reactions. Should be doing a patch test soon to see what it is so that I can avoid it.

A patch test will give you answers.
Antihistamines will also give relief.
Some Pinetarsol in with some bath water will also give relief.
Cortic DS is a skin cream available over the counter at chemists, for me it stops the itching almost instantly.

Me, I'm allergic to australian wheat grass (& I'm a gardener D'OH), have dermatitis that flares up often, I often have bouts of folliculitis, have recently been diagnosed with coeliacs & I'm allergic to personal lubricant (don't ask).

So yeh'....you're not alone mate.

My girlfriend had it for many years until she found out what caused it.

Oranges (not any other citrus fruit) and now she avoids it and has no problems.
Creams and pills wont fix it.

I have seen direct sunlight set off dermatitis..... especially if an allergen has made contact with the skin and you are out in the sun for a decent portion of the day. Long sleeves become your friend.

the indside joint of elbow where arm bends
behind ear
top of lower back
side of hip
all sweat zones
comes and goes
have a cream

do not put calamine lotion on it
lol
it will burn and itch like a dogs *** covered in fleas

id say its something in the yard
youre gonna have to do go thru the test dummy scenario
