Default Fiesta Wiper Blades

Hi Guys,

6 months ago i replaced the original front wiper blades on my WT Fiesta with a pair from ebay. Comline is the brand, were meant to be quite good from my research. At first they were great, but after a couple of months they constantly skip up and down the windscreen doing not a great job of removing water. They also smear and squeak. Worse than the 45,000km original genuine wipers i replaced.

I have tried cleaning them, thoroughly cleaning the windscreen but it has done nothing.

Does anyone have any thoughts? This pair cost me $40 (whole kit), i may just cop it and buy a pair of genuine from Ford for $60 per wiper :S.

If someone can help me that would be great.

looks like you will have to replace the wipers anyway

and sydney has wierd weather daily

2x 60 is $120 lasted at least 40,000 km
1x40 is $40 you know how long they last 3x$40 is $120...thats 3 sets to one

the $40 set must have had some sort of contamination /heat breakdown
for the material to fail that fast

I just get the Tridon ones from SCA, straight fit for MK7 Fiesta, swap off and then on with new arms.

cheap quality as well as price -
replace the wipers ASAP before they scratch the windscreen - Bursons -SCA Repco etc.- tridon - bosch -
rain seems to be going to be continuing up here for a while

My Ford dealer said the mechs just replace the inserts in the original wipers.

$19 for a new set of rubbers, 10-15 minutes of swearing and you're away.

It's one of the few cases where brute force triumphs over guile and skill.

FWIW flip the wiper upside down, spot the end that has a small cutout piece, jam a smallish screwdriver in there and yank...hard. With luck the end of the wiper will bounce off a wall. If this fails try the other end. Slide the old rubber out, slide the new one in and Robert is one of your parent's siblings...assuming you can find the old end. Mine was in the dog's water dish.

I've done this twice and whereas people will tell you they're not repairable and Ford would really like to sell you a $6-70 set, they're both clearly mistaken.

FWIW my Focus is the same as my missus' WT Fiesta. Both replaced the same way.

Thanks for your input guys... As i Already had bought the crummy wipers from Ebay i decided to just buy a set of Bosch ones from Bursons. $30 each.. but totally worth it.. Absolutely perfect compared to the ebay set. Lesson learnt, you get what you pay for.

Bosch is the way to go.

If you use RainX on the windscreen (and the wipers), they last for years.
