Chopped - some one add the video please
(even with Holden cheating by sending a manual redline and the Ford not in sports mode lol) It's more Australian than a koala riding an emu while eating a lamington. Performance utes are a uniquely AustraliHoldeention, not to be confused with their American 'pick-up' cousins. Like all our locally-made beasties, they won't be around for too much longer, which is a crying shame, as there aren't too many better ways to have fun on four wheels. Masses of power and torque, no weight over the back and rear-wheel drive means it's virtually impossible not to enjoy yourself. But which of the local crop is fastest? Check out the video above to find out. Quick disclaimer: it was originally meant to be XR6 Turbo vs base SS, but a mix-up at Holden meant we landed a Redline instead. As it turns out, it wouldn't have changed the result at all. We'll have more video from our ute shoot in the coming weeks.

Same problem in this article as every other one, they are not comparing like for like. I don't care the ford "won" they should do us the honour of comparing two equivalent cars, auto for auto, manual for manual.

I used to organise drive days between Holden and Ford, and personally would collect and swap cars between factories to help each other out. Clearly the journo's dont know the right people.

We're dead lucky to still have two such diversely different cars to do the same job. You like a hairdryer and underbonnet tech? You know where to go. Big grumpy pushrod with tons of cabin tech? You know where to go. Great utes, shame they're heading out the door. Be interested to see one with the 310 package against the turbo see how they shape up but it'd just blow out the price difference again.
