Heritage Plates

Hey guys,

Rego is up for renewall for the Meteor and I'm considering joining a club so that I can register for heritage plates and hopefully save a few dollars.

I was wondering what clubs people would recommend that suit my 82 Meteor Ghia.

I'm in the far eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

I dont know if forum members would call it a collectible or historic car or classic just yet

built in 1982 may only attract interest to someone who likes that model a lot

are you want to comp/show and shine it or it keep it original ?

you are confusing me a little on this club and heritage plates question

you can get heritage plates with out being in a club or not owning a car

they dont get any discount just for being in a club ..most are investments

club plates are for old Historic or vintage and restricted use and are discounted ..not just handed out
they represent any car
as being mint unique genuine factory original restored vehicles or of a set age

I had the understanding that having a heritage registration cost a lot less than a normal registration but it came with certain conditions. That is the car had to be more than 25 years old and driven less than 90 days per year. I also understood that these plates were purchased through a registered club who you would keep a log book of each day the car was driven.

Thanks for your corrections through, I'll have a look at the sites and see what suits (if any). I know my meteor is not a collectible car. However I've had it a long time and not ready to give up on it just yet. It is currently needing a restoration which I will do, time and money pending. I enjoy car shows and if the meteor was up to scratch I would probably enter it into some show and shines for something different. tho not being a rwd v8, it would receive little attention. lol

While browsing through the list of car clubs on the vicroads website, I stumbled apon this one:

F117 Vintage Vehicle Appreciation Club

My first throught. A retired F117 Nighthawk rolling down the road with victorian rego plates. hahahahaha

Seriosusly tho, is this a mistake or what is this F117?

you should see other states lists for names of clubs

nothing in australian white pages
nothing shows up on an internet search
no suck club on facebook etc

I dont get a hit on a vintage vehicle identified as F117

we dont have F117 stealths flying out of Victoria every day
