-mortgage paid off
-plenty of money in the bank
-not worried about huge depreciation
-happy with something a lot noisier but slower and thirstier


if you can tick all of those boxes then... yep...time for a v8.

Unless you go to the strip the days of stretching the legs of any performance car on the street without the Constabulary wanting to take it home with them are now long over, being the fastest is almost a redundant prerequisite.

I’m much happier to slowly potter around and enjoy the harmonics of a V8 as it percolates its way down the road and leave the hairdryers for my wife when she wants to go shopping.

Hmmm. If being the fastest is redundent, why pay the excessive fuel bills??.. grab a hyundai getz and enjoy. 6.1L per 100km...

I love V8s for their big hairy chested torque they make.. makes for a luxurious drive.

If you have to ask that question, it’s obvious you don’t get V8’s.

Plus there is always going to be someone quicker and you'll only know about it on the street if you are both idiotic enough to wanna find out.

Apart from that, a well-tuned 8 can get around without breaking the bank, it’s when you’re on it that the juices start to flow and that goes for anything that wants to have power and torque.

Just the other week I heard an old Customline idle out of the shopping centre car park.

I don't care if it had wind up windows and no air-con, it made me want to sell my Benz and buy one

For several years Hulk, I have followed your threads and at times have vehemently disagreed with some of your statements as you may well remember. But I have to say the above statement is THEmost ridiculous group of words to escape from from your brain / mouth. By your own reasoning a 50cc Honda Step through would out accelerate a V8 granted you could put that much fuel through a small carby.
