I agree, but the numpties that watch the show believe it to be gospel which then can alter their perception of a topic/business which is still not a good thing if you are on the receiving end.

Ok, so i received a call from the Telstra Case Manager assigned to deal with the complaint lodged with the TIO.
She just rang to inform me that she was investigating the case and would reply within 2-3 days with her decision. I again requested a copy of the bill which she said would be forwarded if Telstra chose to persue it further. I enquired as to how this affects the debt collector and she said the account has been frozen pending her investigation. So we wait... |

Ok, so i just heard back from the Telstra case manager handling this situation.
She informed me that there was a delivery to the address of what i guess would have been a handset. I said that was impossible as the address is not valid, the street name is not used anywhere in South Australia. It was then that she told me it was definately a valid address, only in NSW I then explained that i hadnt lived in NSW for the best part of 20 years and hadnt set foot in the State for about 7 years. She agreed that it obviously isnt my doing and has asked for a copy of my Drivers Licence, proof of residence for the period the account was open and a stat. dec. stating that it wasnt me and that i have never lived at that address. So after 2 weeks of phone calls, threats and stress on top of the emotional strain of losing my Dad, they have finally got their **** together and admitted that i am innocent. So as the Son of a proud Irishman, who's had a very trying fortnight, im going to make my way through a bottle of Jamiesons Irish Whiskey to wash away the stress. Cheers! |

Get that in writing (ie email) straight away. Also make a note of the time and date of these phone calls - they will be recorded, and someone backsteps on this later then those recordings will be required. Also ask the case manager to listen to the voice recordings of the person that pretended to me you, and compare the voice sound to you. Don't forget that this is also a police matter - fraud, impersonating someone else, etc.

The term seedy comes to mind, and would be quite an understatement.

Good to hear, unfortunate you had to go through it all though. You'd think if the address doesn't exist in the first place you have to wonder what company is so dumb to sign someone up for that.
As far as I'm concerned though even if it were legit, if they can't provide a breakdown of charges they really don't have **** on you. It's not like you or I could approach someone and say you owe me X amount without any proof. Apparently there is an app now that asks simple questions before you can call or text after having a few. |
