FG501 Video Conversion Kit

Hi Asl,
I've been looking at the FG501 Video Conversion Kit that you have on your website and was wondering how easy it would be for me to fit to my current vehicle. I currently have a FG with premium sound however it currently has factory; GPS, reverse sensors, Bluetooth and iPod integration. Will having these features inhibit my ability to connect the FG501 Video Conversion Kit? Also how easy is it to fit this kit, would I be required to remove the ICC or does it connect to existing connectors which are easily accessible?

the kit we supply will not interfere with any of ur factory options or settings, they are pretty easy to fit and no need to remove ICC and comes with instructions as well. Thanks for that, I was just a bit concerted with the few options I have that there wouldn't be anywhere left to fit it.

Will the FG501 kit always take priority over the screen? Say I'm using the FG501 and a select reverse will the reverse sensor take priority display over the FG501 kit?

I need to finish on thing before I start another with my car, so once I've fitted the speakers I have bought I'll e-mail you for the instructions and grab myself a kit off the website.

yes the reverse sonar will over ride the fg501, call us to orgonise a phone order since ford forums get a better price then website $335.00 plsu freight $10.00

Thought i would jump on the back of this thread.

Whats the difference between the fg 501 and FG 500. is it just the IPod connection?

also, with these, could i connect the TV out from a laptop and play video via that (NTSC of course) - I assume I couldnt conect the VGA output from a laptop

yes fg501 allows you to charge and view videos off ur ipod iphone.

you can use the second input for tv as long you use ntsc products.

i forgot to also ask, this means i can have video playing for passengers while the car is in motion ? i know alot of other systems make it so can only use the video etc when handbrake is applied

I recieved mine yesterday and have since hooked it up. is there a way to make it actually display everything. all i can get is videos ive brought off itunes or youtube. it doesnt recognize other video player apps on the phone ?

you need to jailbreak your iphone and then get a program called TvOut which will show everything, even navigation, home screen, etc.

pretty keen on this after seeing Thommo's the other night, we were all very impressed, once this is fitted, and with a new head unit to play DVD's, this will all show up on the screen too wont it, or does it all have to come from an Ipod/pad/phone?

itd a dual input box. as long u use ntsc DVD will show the vid on the color screen

it doesn't use the original ipod jack. the factory one does not support video

Does this mean that if I'm running an app that supports video out (e.g. a gps app or Jailbroken iphone to support video out) on the ICC display, are you still able to play music from the cars stereo be it the radio, CD or ipod, or does whatever is on the screen take over the audio function as well?

I am thinking of getting the FG500 kit plus something like this

To enable me to airplay my iPhone screen and audio up onto the ICC screen and thru the stereo - and to also enable others in the car to do this from their device wirelessly.

Do you think that would work ASL?

Can't vouch for it, but for what it appears it looks as if it would work, it has RCA output so it would connect to our RGB Box. But again we cannot guarantee it will work as we have not tested this.
