A workmate mentioned there are apps for speedometers on ya smartphone. So I got a free off the Apple store and stuck it at bottom of windscreen - bingo! apparently an accurate digital speedo HUD display. Good to compare to the factory digital speedo in my FG Falcon. The Falcon speed was always 2 Ks below the HUD number.
Now I can set my cruise to 88 in an 80 zone knowing ill never get pinged Mind you, if I lived in Vic it would have to be set to, like 83 i suspect. |

Same as speed/distance apps for Android, nearly all have a HUD setting.

GPS is slow to respond to speed changes. And has its own errors.

I had one, it was too slow to react when speeding up or slowing down. Although it was good for finding the exact speed when setting cruise control on the freeway.

I think I'll stick with a calibrated speedo and not some cheap phone app. I work off the speedo is 2km under what it displays and so far so good.

which makes sense, ive never been booked for doing 88 (86) or 99 (97) in Canberra. Canberra may be cold, but at least we are lenient on speeding compared to Vic or Qld. |
