Default Sunday Street Meet Report: 30th August 2015

Sunday Street Meet provides a relaxed environment for enthusiasts to take it off the street and hit one last PB for the month. With a full day of racing there are no shortage of highlights.

Here are some great performance from last Sunday’s Street Meet at Sydney Dragway.

Top Holden of the Month:

With a number plate like ‘HIT IT’ the owner of this GTS was either a DJ or driving a very fast car, we can confirm the latter as it was definitely no slouch. Cruising down the quarter mile for a swift 10.69 @ 127.5MPH taking home top Holden of the day.

Top Ford of the Month:

Some might consider this Panel Van an unusual choice for a drag car, though we love to see unconventional cars tackle the strip, especially when they take home an 11.29 @ 117.6MPH!

Top Japanese of the Month:

The humble Mazda 3 has taken on many guise throughout the years, the MPS variant continuing to surprise those unaware of what’s hiding under the hood. The 2.3L turbo 4 squeezing out a 13.42 @ 105MPH.

Top Rotary of the Month:

The classic shape and light blue paint of this Mazda cappella took us straight back to the 70’s. Though with a modern touch this rotary machine flew down the strip for an 11.43 @ 130.90.

Top European of the Month:

European muscle is not a term you hear too often, but if we had to define it with one car, this C63 AMG Mercedes would definitely be close. The number plate ‘BLWN63’ says it all with a fastest pass of 10.56 @ 132.5MPH on the day.

Commentators Pick of the Month:

Commentator’s pick of the day couldn’t have gone to much other than this blue Cortina. Lifting both front wheels off the line and cruising home for a 10.76 @ 123.6MPH. Keeping the crowd on the edge of their seats all day.

Sunday Street Meet is on the last Sunday of each month at Sydney Dragway, weather permitting. Keep it safe, legal and off the streets! Gates open at 8:30AM and racing starts at 10:00AM. Check our website for T&C’s and entry information.

Next Sunday Street Meet is Sunday 27th of September 2015. See you there!
