The headlights and tail lights get bigger with each generation.

I read somewhere they deliberately made the Prius ugly to ensure the eco-crusaders were duly noticed.
Looks like that memo is still in place. |

With other hybrids on the market that look like a conventional car, one has to wonder why you would bother with this monstrosity. Too look different? Would have to be a desperate attention seeker.

You blokes are harsh, I actually think it looks alright although the line to Lexus is getting closer with those angles.
I would think the theory would be that its future technology now and hence the styling? There is always the Camry, didnt think people here like wearing cardigans that much.

The people who these cars appeal to want to be noticed.
An interesting term used is "conspicuous conservation” in this article which sums it all up with research. |

Want a regular looking car, buy a Camry. What something that's different and funky, buy a Prius. Easy.

Shhhh, I can smell him!!!
What I haven't found is a full disclosure about the manufacture of the batteries. The environmental impact of their manufacture has never been disclosed and should it ever be made public, would almost certainly cause the Prius customer base to require a lie down and warm cup of juju tea or something. Oh and it is as ugly as a hat full of bumholes. |

What is with the melted look lately? Have they been using Salvador Dali as inspiration?

Steady on. That's a bit harsh on the bumholes.

I think if I were in the market for a hybrid, I'd prefer one that looks like a normal car.

Its good having different designs.

I guess its the same as people who buy FPV/HSV's. Most want the car to stand out so people know that they bought one.

Some people no doubt do buy vehicles to stand out from the crowd , meh normal demographic of human nature id say .
i looked at buying a prius myself a while ago, for no other reason than i wanted an efficient fairly cheap old farts run around with some clever design to replace my aging henry and lexy, i personally would have preffered a more main stream look , and i dont really care for the priussy looks , but i think some of it is part of the design with drag co efficient, some probably toyota wants it to be its signiture green car looks i suppose, either way im not that offended by it. i think it would have easily bettered my big henrys fuel consumption around the burbs on my last tank of 12.8 L per 100 k`s ...... sitting at bloody boom gates GAAAAH ! |
