The young don't listen, so even if you visited yourself you would probably do the opposite of what the old you tried to tell the younger you.

My advice to anyone, regardless of age is life is a gift, live it.
Avoid negative people.
Take a risk.

My advice to myself at 20? Keep ya head down - I wuz an infantry soldier in Vietnam.

Gee , if i was able to talk to myself through the time warp communication device about all the dumb **** not to do , id probably be looking at a very long conversation :-).

Id probably start off with ......... pay more attention to your favorite lady and hang on to her , she was a keeper(hi Rhonda ....sorry).

You don't realize when your young how one single decision in your life can point you in a whole different direction that can lead to a hard road.
think wisely about your choices .

Only young myself, but I wished I hadn't listened to some people at school. I was highly academic at school and I was told countless times by many people that I was too smart not to go to uni and not to waste my intelligence, and so I developed a 'stuff being a tradie' mentality, but truth is I hated uni and couldn't really do it. Here I am now doing my plumbing trade and loving it. Kicking myself because I could have been 5 years ahead of where I am with no hecs debt, but can't regret it, you don't get it back.

Motto: Don't let people tell you how to start your life, and always, always consider the other option.

I've done a lot of dumb **** in my time despite being quite an intelligent bloke. I'm going on 29 this year which is relatively young.

The only thing I'd say to my 20 year old something self is to dream a lot more, fail quick and learn what you can from journey to do better for yourself. Nothing worth having is easy to get.

"Always wear a condom!!!"

I did.

43yo and no child-support payments.

One of the few things that I did get right.

Wish I bought some Apple shares in the 90s, though.

Listen to your grandparents, they made mistakes only to watch their children make the same.
I listened to mine only to fob them off, arrogantly thinking, "what would you know".

  1. Tell that Girl how you feel, and don't let her ride in a beach-buggy.
  2. Don't let your brother do DIY exhaust fan replacement in an old dodgy house.
  3. Tell your other brother not to dive into shallow water
  4. Gary is a good mate, look after him, especially when he gets depressed.
  5. Tell your Dad his indigestion is cancer
  6. Tell your Mum she's beautiful, she's not fat, and she should eat whatever the heck she wants, cos the fecking cancer will get her in the end anyway
  7. Become a Mining Engineer
