Default Re: Best place to advertise a car for sale

Gumtree is where everyone looks first. And it's free.

Some people also look at Carsales.com.au

I actually bought a Camry Hybrid via Carsales last week. I needed to replace a Falcon taxi with a Camry Hybrid. I had been checking Gumtree at least twice a day, looking for the right deal.

Last Tuesday night I figured I'd have a look through Carsales as well. Sure enough, there was a suitable Camry Hybrid there, which hadn't been advertised anywhere else.

As very few buyers look through Carsales, I was the first caller. I paid $10,000 cash for an October 2010 Camry Hybrid HL that would normally sell for $14-15k here in Perth.

That car would have sold in the first few days on Gumtree. But, after several weeks on Carsales, I was the first caller. Fine by me.

Had someone on gumtree message me about some wheels (i know its not a complete car, but thought it worthy of the post)

He said he needed them tonight, and can he 'pay me back for them'

Are people really that retarded that they actually give their stuff to someone on a promise? And equally, are people really that retarded that they try and ask that?

How does saying no scammers, stop scammers from contacting?

And why not answer emails? You are eliminating the midnight car shoppers.
Emailing is so much easier than sending a text.

When i was selling my bronco i had all dodgy replies via email and after saying no scammers ect i didn't get any dodgy emails.

Look email is lazy, if you really serious about a car phone the seller and ask the questions, then you can get an idea of what type of person the seller is and the life of the car.

Oh, I thought your previous comment re "No Scammers" was sarcastic...I didn't think that would stop them.

I can just imagine the crisis staff meetings at the scammer companies. They will almost be going broke because of the no scammer signs
